Scratch-lite

More holiday swimming fun.
Is anyone looking for a great art activity for children? Try scratch-lite.
art2.jpg
Draw up your design on a piece of paper.
Make sure you provide the children with visual ideas for their drawing as this will help greatly with the results of their work.
art3.jpg
Place your picture onto the scratch-lite paper (use sticky tape to avoid the paper moving) and trace the design with a pencil or pen.
When finished use the wood stick to scratch away the drawing.

Place the pictures on a window to best appreciate the effect.

Pool fun

Posted on Saturday 13 January 2007

It’s so hot here at the moment. So it’s been a good week to spend at the local pools.

This illustration was done with educational publishers in mind. I thought I might be brave and send some of my work out to the education market. It has been such a long time since I’ve used this pencil tool and it takes much more precision and adjusting in contrast to when using the artistic samples from the brush library.

Anyway we’re off to Bright for a week, not long of the Summer holidays left and then its back to work.

Buzz/humm

Posted on Monday 8 January 2007

I was trying to think what apart from the obvious makes a buzzing noise and this is what I came up with.
bear.jpg
The flapping noise of the wings of the hummingbird can often be mistaken for the buzzing of a bee. This bear who is enjoying fishing in the river is a little distracted by the antics of its visitor.

Speed cleaning

My speed cleaning kit.

cleaningcolour.jpg

My sister gave me the book Speed Cleaning by Shannon Lush and Jennifer Fleming for Christmas. According to this book I’m supposed to spend 15 minutes a day cleaning one room. Well worth a read if you struggle with house work as I do. We’ll see how successful it will be.

..holiday pictures continued

Posted on Friday 5 January 2007

I used these little exercises to pratice drawing straight with the pen, no pencils, no erasers and am quite pleased with the results. I am looking forward to my copy of Creative License arriving in the mail as I am hoping to use this to improve my creativity and drawing skills.

Perth, the perfect holiday destination.

Posted on Tuesday 2 January 2007

swan.jpgquocka.jpgAfter spending 6 days in Perth I thoroughly recommend it as a holiday destination. Infact it would be a fantastic place to live. What I noticed most were the beautiful blue skies and the relaxed pace and how much walking everyone did. While there I took my little set of watercolor paints and did some pen and ink drawings.

Happy and Creative New year to you all too!

Merry Christmas

Posted on Wednesday 20 December 2006

It’s hard to believe that Christmas time is just about here. I am very excited because we are going to Perth just after Boxing day. It will be great opportunity to draw the quokkas and dolphins. I think Santa might be bringing me a new digital camera so that I can take lots of photos too.
Thanks for visiting my blog and have a wonderful Christmas and holiday time.

Helping hands

help.jpg
Thought I’d try something a little different today. The hands represent the giving of help and the faces are the people who need or receive the help.
